
Balanced Structures is a structural engineering consultancy set up to deliver high-quality engineering design for both residential and commercial projects. Our UK team is spread across London, allowing us to combine our engineering expertise with local knowledge. Together, we have successfully delivered over 600 projects across London and the South East.

What we do
Our team has experience in a wide range of project types; from small-scale residential to large-scale commercial developments and from listed building refurbishment to bespoke new builds. We bring expertise in modern and innovative methods of construction to a project, along with traditional design and detailing. We believe that the structural design is a key part of any project. If appointed, we will oversee all aspects of the structural design and will be hands-on to support the client and project team to ensure the project is well-designed, well-constructed, and within budget. We believe that our design-led, collaborative approach allows us to add value to your project and ensure it is a success.

We can provide basement impact assessemnts and complete basement designs, including temporary works.

About us
As a small independent company, we can guarantee the team which will work on your project. We have a small team of 8 qualified engineers. Our UK team Paul, Karina, Nick and Valentina are spread across London allowing us to combine our engineering expertise with local knowledge. Our overseas team support our London engineers allowing us to provide a high end high effort service at an affordable price.









Valentina is a chartered engineering with over 15 years of industry experience. Valentina joined Balanced Structures in 2023 having spent 10 years at AKT II. Whilst at AKT II Valentina worked closely with Paul and Krzysztof, on award-winning project such as South Bank Tower, Kensington Odeon and the Stirling price winning Kingston University Town House.
Valentina is based in South London and will help us provide local knowledge and expertise to this area of London.

Karina joined our team in 2024, bringing valuable experience from Parmar Brook, where she was involved in a diverse array of commercial retrofit projects, including the prestigious refurbishment of 11 Pall Mall and 11 Maddox Street for the Crown Estate.
Since joining Balanced Structures, Karina has made an immediate impact, and is currently managing our South London projects with a focus on retail refurbishments.
Paul set up Balanced Structures in 2021, having previously worked for 15 years at large consultancy companies in London and Sydney, including 10 years at AKT II where he was a Design Director. Paul is a chartered structural engineer with the IStructE and is an interviewer for the IStructE as part of the chartered professional review.
He is hands-on in helping and developing integrated architectural and structural solutions on projects, based on innovative ideas and collaborative working.
Jan joined our Polish office, having graduated from University with master’s degree in civil engineering. Prior to joining us in 2023, Jan gained site and design experience, working on medium scale insitu and precast concrete construction.
Jan is already a key member of the Balanced Structures team and is responsible for managing our 3-D engineering software and BIM integrations. Jan is a keen amateur cyclist and brings his high intensity and high effort approach from cycling all his projects
Krzysztof is the Managing Director and co-founder of our Polish office.
Prior to joining Balanced Structures, Krzysztof worked for eight years at AKT II in London as a Parametric Designer and a Structural Engineer. Krzysztof led the design of Macintosh House, an extension of the King Edward VII private hospital, and worked on the IStructE award winning rejuvenations of Finsbury Tower (HyLo) and 81 Newgate Street (BT center).
Nick joined us in 2022, he is now a Technical Director and leads our new Yorkshire Office. Prior to joining us Nick worked on a range of high-end domestic scale projects including the UK’s first PassivHaus basement, Chiswick Eco Lodge and the refurbishment of 98 Eaton Square, which is within the Grosvenor Estate, with Eric Parry Architects.
Nick is passionate about climbing and charity work. He has completed several projects with Article 25, including IStructE award-winning The Bethel School in Burkina Faso.
Marta graduated from Gdansk University in 2021 and spent one year working for a local engineering firm before joining Balanced Structures. Marta has grown quickly into a key member of our team and is currently responsible for our CAD standards and our embodied carbon calculator.
Marta has a keen interest in sustainability and plans to enrol in a part time engineering masters course which will focusing on sustainable and natural building materials.
Charities
Each year we support a charity and make a donation on behalf of each and every client that appoint us. So far we have donated to One Tree, Homeless Action in Barnet. This year our chosen charity is Make Some Noise who support local charities across the UK. If you would like us to consider your charity next year please contact us.

Where we work
Our focus since our launch has been London and the South East. However we will travel further afeild for bespoke and challanging projects. Our London team is deliberately based across London to ensure we have local knowledge of the area we work in. This approach enhances our knowledge of key structural considerations such as the local ground condition and property typologies. It also allows us to build relationships with key individuals such as building control officers and local contractors. If you would like to know more about our projects in your area. In 2026 we will launch our Yorkshire office expanding our ability to be your local engineer.
